When to use it. Interpreting sodium in diabetic ketoacidosis or a hyperosmolar hyperglycaemic state.

Limits of this score. This corrects for the water shift a high glucose causes — it does NOT tell you the sodium will be that value once glucose falls, and it is not a licence to correct sodium quickly. Watch the corrected sodium RISE as glucose is treated; a corrected sodium that falls during treatment is a warning sign for cerebral oedema.
