Limits of this score. A SCREENING and severity instrument, not a diagnosis — that requires a clinical interview. Item 9 asks about self-harm: a positive answer needs a risk assessment in the same consultation, whatever the total. Physical illness inflates the somatic items (sleep, energy, appetite), so read the total in context.
